The Bachelor of Science Honours in Property Studies aims to provide advanced knowledge in Property Studies. The first purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifiers with specialized knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the field of Soil Science, that provide for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions society.

To produce graduates with an understanding of soil science who are able to manage soil and water resources in order to (a) minimize or rehabilitate industrial environmental disturbance and contamination and/or (b) manage agricultural and horticultural production systems in a sustainable manner.

Purpose and Rationale of the Qualification: - The (first) purpose of this qualification is to provide students with the opportunity to engage in advanced academic study and research in the areas of Biokinetics or Sport Science or Sport and Recreation Management.

The purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners for research based Postgraduate study. The qualification serves to consolidate and deepen the learner's expertise in Sport Science and to develop research capacity in the methodology and techniques of Sport Science. This qualification demand a high level of theoretical engagement and intellectual independence. The learner should develop applied competence in the analysis, interpretation and application of sport science principles in the fitness and health, coaching and teaching sectors of the sport industry. The learner should be able to take strategic decisions in the context of sport science and to assess any internal or external decision impacting on sport science. The learner should further be able to reflect on his/her scientific decisions and applications to assess the effect thereof in the holistic context of sport science as practice. The learner should be able to: - Resolve typical problems that exist in the management of sport environments.

The purposes of the qualification are: - To provide qualifiers with specialised knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in a natural science discipline that provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society.

The qualification aims: - To provide learners with a sound statistical basis for a higher level study of abstract statistics, such as advanced probability theory, statistical inference, non-parametric and categorical statistics, experimental design and analysis of variance, time series, demographic methods and statistical quality control.

To provide graduates with a specialised knowledge in Statistics through study in depth; to equip them with knowledge of research methodology and the ability to solve problems and develop theory through independent work and critical thinking, by the use of appropriate theory, methods and technique from different parts of mathematics. These graduates should be good communicators in spoken and written English, to both expert and non-expert audiences.
