1. The (first) purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers with specialised knowledge, skills and applied competence in the field of wildlife management science.

This qualification will produce much-needed professionals to enter or to specialise in any animal biology related field but particularly in aquatic biology, aquatic eco-physiology, aquatic toxicology or aquatic management.

This qualification aims: - To compound and expand the learners knowledge in the field of Zoology.

The first purpose of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) (Zoology) qualification is to provide qualifiers with lower post-graduate-level knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in a number of fields of zoological science that provide for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society.

To produce graduates with adequate knowledge and skills to meet the requirements for international academic recognition and to enable professional registration (if appropriate) in the fields of zoology. Graduates will be able to contribute positively to future vocational and/or academic needs both locally (Southern Africa) and internationally through their ability to apply scientific methods in supervised research and/or problem solving, and communicate and/or implement investigative research findings effectively in a diversity of fields within the zoological sciences, for example, as general zoologists, animal behaviourists, animal physiologists, animal systematists, environmental consultants and environmental managers.

As indicated in the overall degree statement, with the focus on those skills and knowledge required in the discipline of Zoology.

The Bachelor of Science Honours: Applied Plant Physiology (BSc Hons: Applied Plant Physiology) has been designed for graduates with Bachelor of Science Degrees in related plant or biological sciences who are interested in postgraduate studies in areas of Horticulture.

The first purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifiers with graduate-level (level 7) knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in the field of Plant Production, that provide for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society.
