Purpose and rationale
The purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers with
- A postgraduate-level knowledge of the field of human reproduction and assisted conception
- Skills to understand and apply concepts in andrology; embryology; cryopreservation; pre-implantation genetic diagnosis; implantation; pregnancy and contraception.
- Specialisation in a field of Reproductive Biology (small research project) as a basis for further study.
- The ability to assimilate knowledge and to critically examine the reliability and validity of research results.
- The ability to write a dissertation on a research project.
- The ability to present research data at a scientific forum.

Learning outcomes
- Obtain and assimilate scientific knowledge in reproductive biology by self study and lectures in applied reproductive biology;
- Write a research proposal under supervision;
- Execute a research project under supervision.
- Write research report(s) in the format to be submitted
- as oral and/or poster presentations at in-house seminars and
- national conferences. Compile seminars of specified subject matter and present as oral presentations at in-house seminars.
- Write a research report in the format to be submitted as a thesis.

- Understand the interactive elements of fundamental reproductive biology in a practical and theoretical sense. Existing knowledge of the student is expanded together with recent relevant philosophies and viewpoints in the field.
