The purpose of the Bachelor of Social Science in Industrial and Organisational Psychology qualification is to provide learners with the foundational knowledge of psychological principles and research methods in the overall work environment so that organisations, teams, and individuals flourish. The qualification will also provide a pathway for individuals to understand the essence of the South African labour force and the general operational aspects of organisations to find solutions to overcome a mismatch in skills and roles.
Purpose:
It will prepare competent learners capable of developing the fundamentals of computer programming, and with the expertise to analyse, design, operate and manage computer systems. The integration of these academic skills will enable the University to contribute to the country's need for an increase in workforce and self-sufficiency in information technology fields. It will prepare competent personnel who can understand the organisation and operation of computer hardware. It will help in the transfer of a technology which is undergoing rapid development. It will provide personnel who are capable of meeting the nation's present and future needs in the academic and vocational spheres. It will further prepare learners for advanced learner studies in information technology.

The purpose of the qualification is to educate and to train learners in the knowledge and skills necessary for effective communication in places of work. The emphasis is on management in human resources. The qualification directs itself at a range of careers including sales and marketing, personnel work, public relations, front jobs in companies, tourism, and diplomatic work. The qualification teaches learners to build relationships with others, communicate effectively, work collectively in teams, persuade, negotiate and generate ideas in the world of work.
The qualification aims to train learnerLearners to the Bachelor's level in fundamental Economics, with additional emphases on the political dynamics and philosophical context in which economic policies - both public and corporate - are framed. It aims, in particular, to convey understanding of the international political economy, particularly as this impacts upon developing regions. This broad area of theoretical learning is complemented by the imparting of technical skills that will support learners' ability to apply their knowledge, including basic Mathematics, Statistics, Critical Reasoning and (subject to learner choice) Accounting or Information Systems. LearnerLearners will complete three sequences of courses, each leading to postgraduate entry in a discipline. Two of these will be Political Economy and Economics. The third will be one of Accounting, Information Systems, Mathematics, Philosophy or Political Studies, as chosen by the learner. The qualification's designated 'target learner' ultimately seeks a career in economic policy-making, either in the public or private sector, and it is expected that most will go on to postgraduate studies so as to equip themselves to eventually work at senior administrative levels. Purpose:
This is an academic and vocational qualification in Sociological Analysis and Social Research programme which provides students with a theoretical understanding of the processes and structures of society, and an understanding of the principles and practice of social research as the empirical means for investigating these processes and structures of society. Students will be encouraged to acquire an understanding of the vision and limitations of Sociology as a discipline, and social research as an empirical mode of investigation, within the framework of multi-disciplinary approach. Students will be encouraged to acquire a firm grasp of theoretical traditions in Sociology from with explanations can be drawn. Students will be encouraged to acquire the skills required to conduct sociological analysis and research. The social research component of the programme is inter-disciplinary and vocational, with the intention of leading to employment in a variety of fields needing this type of experience, or as a foundation for a specialist professional degree.
