This is achieved through course work leading to detailed literature surveys.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to develop applied competence of the learner on an advanced level in the mastering, analysis, interpretation and understanding of industrial psychological principles and methods. It puts the learner in a position to register as Personnel Practitioner with the South African Board of Personnel Practice and to work on an advanced level in the field of Human Resource Management and Industrial Psychology. It will prepare the learner for further study in Industrial Psychology of the Health Professions Council of South Africa as a professional psychologist after obtained a doctorate and having completed an internship.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying learners with the ability to discuss, analyse and apply the theory and methodology of Industrial Sociology and to participate in current debates in Industrial Sociology on an advanced level. They will be able to apply this knowledge to issues pertinent to the field of Industrial Sociology in the Southern African region. In addition, a qualifying learner will be able to plan, design and execute research in an authentic context, using appropriate methodology and report on research findings.
