Purpose and rationale
The purpose of this qualification is to enable learners to acquire adequate research skills in History within the Faculty of Arts. This requires attention to the following three important aspects:
- A broadening and deepening of a student's knowledge in the History disciplines as specified. This is achieved through course work leading to detailed literature surveys.
- The development of basic research skills.
- The writing of a mini-thesis on the basis of an accepted research proposal.

- Express knowledge and generic research skills in History in an integrated, logical and coherent manner through written work.
- Conduct delimitation, literature searches, logical analysis, balanced interpretation, structuring and expressing, abstract thoughts in a logical and coherent way, the consistent use of a system of references.

The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy.
