This qualification aims at providing the aspirant with advanced professional knowledge, skills and attitudes for managerial and research capacity for information management and service in public and corporate sector particularly in libraries and information centres and manpower training and development institutions in the discipline.

It is assumed that the aspirant has a professional qualification in library and information studies, is academically and/or practically mature to pursue advanced studies in the discipline.

Exit level outcomes
At the end of this programme graduates are expected to conduct research, manage information services and participate in manpower development in/for information services. The programme outcome will be assessed by thesis only. Graduates will be expected to produce a quality research based dissertation of at least 40 000 words in a topical area in Library and Information Studies.
Associated assessment criteria
Integrated Assessment
The dissertation will be marked over 100% pass mark. Besides dissertation or thesis candidates must be actively involved in seminars and conferences during the period of study. It is highly recommended that an article is submitted for publication by the time of graduation.

Purpose:
The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning. The qualification aims to enhance research capacity and increase access by providing an opportunity to articulate to master's degree. The qualification will accommodate learners with a postgraduate diploma and relevant honours/qualifications on NQF level 8, a minimum of 120 credits achieved at other institutions as well as vertical articulation from relevant master's degrees.
