The Bachelor of Arts Honours in African Politics aims to deepen the student's expertise in African Politics, obtained in a relevant Bachelor's Degree. This qualification demands a high level of theoretical engagement and intellectual independence, and prepares students for a research-based Postgraduate study.

Deeper knowing of and about Africa, her contributions to world civilization; cultural heritage; impact of European and Asian encounters with Africans; the ideals of liberation movements as well as the struggle for majority rule.

The primary purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying learners with applied competence in intellectual and analytical skills with a view to the acquisition of knowledge of analysing, interpreting and understanding of events, as well as economic, social, political and cultural relationships and life situations in Africa as a region.
