The purpose of this qualification is to obtain registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a specialist clinician in the field of Radiation Oncology.

Apply educational knowledge, skills, principles and methods to practise as specialist Oncologists and be licensed as radiation oncologists.

The qualification forms an optional part added to the usual part of the accreditation Process for medical practitioners as Specialists in Radiation Oncology. The Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) stipulates training requirements, including a minimum period of experiential learning. It is usual for the examination to be taken and passed prior to the completion of the required period of supervised learning specified by the HPCSA. The aim of the examination is to supplement the formal examination certification and allow candidates to write a Part III: dissertation, whose successful completion leads to the award of the MMed degree.

The purpose of this qualification is to obtain registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a specialist clinician in the field of diagnostic Radiology.

This qualification provides graduates with knowledge, skills and applied competence in Radiotherapy and Oncology sufficient to allow registration with Health Professions Council of SA as a specialist Radiation and Oncologist. It aims to provide graduates with the foundation for continued personal and intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and for contributing to society at large through advanced patient care, innovation, scholarship and leadership in the field of Radiotherapy and Oncology.
