The first purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers with postgraduate-level knowledge, specific skills and applied competence in a number of specialist areas within Music that provide opportunities for continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and rewarding contributions to society. The qualification represents planned learning outcomes, namely that the learner will be qualified to render holistic, integrated and intersectoral services, reflecting diversity, accessibility, and equal distribution of resources for all South Africans. These outcomes are designed to promote lifelong learning.
This Honours programme is the first year of postgraduate study in Dance. It is designed to provide the opportunity for further intensive study in Dance and training in concepts and research methods that equip the candidate with the skills necessary either for employment in dance-related fields, or for further study at Masters and Doctoral level in Dance or a related subject area.
The qualification provides qualifiers with graduate-level skills, applied competencies and knowledge in various fields of dance to equip them for employment in the South African cultural arena as performers, educators and researchers.The qualification will also significantly heighten the understanding of learners of the traditions of dance and enable them to use these as a tool to further the upliftment and integration of all sectors of South African cultural society.The qualification will build discerning audiences able to evaluate dance as a medium of entertainment and communication critically.
Those programmes are a combination of Bachelor of Music and Higher Diploma in Education:
The primary purpose of the qualification is to provide qualifiers with graduate-level knowledge, professional skills and applied competence relating to music scholarship, musical teaching and/or performance, in such a way as to provide continued personal intellectual growth, gainful economic activity and a valuable contribution to society.

This provides opportunities for continued, gainful, personal, professional and academic development and lifelong learning.
