Doctor of Radiography

This qualification is intended for persons who will make a significant and original contribution to scholarship in a specialised area of technology. They will have a high level of overall understanding in that specialised area ranging from fundamental concepts to advanced theoretical or applied knowledge.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Access may be gained to the qualification through the recognition of prior learning (RPL).

Entry Requirements

Master in Technology: Radiography or equivalent.

The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes.

One

Research a specialised area of technology.

1. Write a reasoned and appropriate research proposal.
2. Gather information/data pertinent to the research area and justified as to relevance.
3. Analyse and evaluate information/data.

Two

Research, develop and transfer significant advances in knowledge within a specialised area of technology.

1. Generate original research.
2. Perform and manage the research.
3. Facilitate the transfer or technological knowledge in academic institutions.

Critical outcomes embedded in the specified outcomes

1. Identifying and solving of problems in which responses display that responsible decisions, using critical and creative thinking, had been made in the health care environment.
2. Collecting, organising, analysing and critically evaluating of information, relevant to health.
3. Work effectively with others in health care and research teams.
4. Reflecting on and exploring of a variety of strategies to learn and conduct research more effectively.
5. Communicate effectively using visual, mathematical and/or language skills in the modes of oral and/or written persuasion.

1. The thesis is coherently written and laid out according to national and institutional guidelines for Level 8.

• An article, in the area of research, is published.
