Purpose and rationale
Purpose
The qualified learner will be competent in researching such an extent that a substantial contribution is made towards the development of the field of marketing.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience.
In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence that the stated competence of the qualification has been achieved through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes.
Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is
- Master's of Philosophy in Management, NQF Level 9.

- Thorough knowledge of the research process.

- Identify and formulate a problem in the marketing field that will contribute to the development of marketing.
- Conduct secondary research related to the identified problem.
- Conduct primary research related to the identified problem.
- Compile a report on the research findings.

Continuous assessment of research work, (Formative), self-assessment, summative assessment on the completion of the thesis.
