Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

This qualification comprises of a compulsory thesis at NQF Level 10 totalling 360 Credits.

Exit level outcomes

  1. Identify a problem or research topic, to evaluate existing knowledge in the field and to apply existing or new methodology to investigate the problem.
  2. Select and apply appropriate sampling techniques and to use the computer as a research tool to gather information, analyse data and present results.
  3. Demonstrate extensive expertise within the specific field of investigation.
  4. Communicate research results.

  • Plan, conduct and report the results of a scientific investigation in the biological field without supervision.
  • Evaluate the quality of the written report (thesis).
