Entry requirements and RPL
Learners are expected to have a Level 9 (Masters) qualification, in Afrikaans. Learners who have obtained a mark of less than 60% in this qualification will not usually be admitted to Afrikaans Doctors.

In the course of this research and writing learners will acquire
- A great depth of knowledge in a complex and specialised area.
- The capacity for dealing with complexity, lacunae, and/or contradictions in the knowledge, base, and making confident selections of tools for the job.
- The ability for autonomous synthesising of information and the creation of responses to problems that expand or redefine existing knowledge.
- The ability for independent evaluation of and argument for alternative approaches.
- The ability to isolate, assess, and resolve problems in an autonomous manner.
- The ability for full professional and academic communication with others in the field of study.
- The ability to produce a thesis that places research within the broader context of the field, is capable of withstanding international intellectual scrutiny, and contributes original knowledge to the field of Afrikaans studies.
