Purpose
The recognition by the award of the qualification of published critical work in the form of articles and books which constitute a record of original and independent research in the humanities, which is the work of the learner and a substantial contribution to the advancement of learning.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

Integrated Assessment
A learner shall submit a body of work (usually in the form of articles and books) for examination by the institution. Senate shall appoint three judges, at least two external to the institution, all of whom shall be experts in the general field of learning in which the learner has won the distinction. The judges shall report to the Senate whether the work constitutes an original contribution to the advancement of knowledge of such substance as to give the learner authoritative standing in his/her particular field of research.
