Purpose and rationale
This qualification aims to recognise researchers who have made a distinguished contribution, as members of a community of educational researchers, to the advancement of knowledge and scholarship in any field of education.
Entry requirements and RPL
Formally Accredited Learning and Subsequent Experience
The typical applicant has higher education-level study of at least the Honours level of the University, or equivalent University-approved qualification, followed by experience, which in general together total nine years (e.g. Honours held for five years; Masters held for four years; PhD held for two years) - consult the application information for the year of study for which application is being made.
Recognition of Prior Learning
Applicants who fall outside of the normal admissions process who can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the University that they have a qualification or experiential- or work based learning which has taken the learner to an equivalent level of a qualification specified above (under Formally Accredited Learning), may be considered for admission and/or for the recognition of prior accredited and/or prior experiential learning.

Exit level outcomes
- The qualifying learner demonstrates, through the cumulative impact of original work of publishable standard, a distinguished contribution to knowledge.
- The qualifying learner demonstrates an understanding, with a high degree of sophistication, of the construction of knowledge within the field and applies that understanding to knowledge creation and/or application.

The applicant has produced a substantial and co-ordinated body of distinguished, original work of publishable standard, for assessment.
Integrated Assessment
The publication represents an integrated assessment. The learner is awarded the degree on submission of a portfolio of original published work in a focused area of educational enquiry.

Articulation options
This section specifies with which other qualifications of the University the qualification was designed to articulate, i.e. formal articulation; therefore the qualification can articulate informally with equivalent qualifications offered by the University, or with other qualifications offered nationally and internationally.
Entry to the qualification
