Purpose and rationale
Purpose
The aim of this qualification is to develop marketing researchers who are able to apply research methods and conduct independent research in order to provide solutions to contemporary marketing problems and generate new knowledge. Qualified learners should be able to demonstrate integrated knowledge on research methodologies and implement evidence based strategies to exploit market opportunities and solve marketing problems.
Rationale
The qualified learner will be competent in conducting research to such an extent that a substantial contribution is made towards the development of the field of marketing. The qualification will be awarded to a learner who has provided evidence to the satisfaction of the assessors that the stated competence of the qualification, as detailed in the specified outcomes, has been achieved, either through education and training in a single provider's learning programme, or through experience that complies with the stated specified outcomes. This qualification articulate vertically into the Doctor of Commerce in Marketing.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution will review learner prior learning and outcome. If outcome is not achieved, a learner may appeal RPL outcome which would be presented to Senate.

- Master of Management in Marketing, NQF Level 9.

- Apply applied detailed knowledge and understanding of the research process and contribute towards the development of the field of marketing by exploring or investigating a specific topic in marketing.

- Complete a thesis in the marketing field in such a way that a contribution is made towards the development of marketing as a social science.

The qualification was designed following a comprehensive benchmarking process with related national and international qualifications.
