Purpose and rationale
The purpose of the qualification is
- To provide an opportunity for learners to obtain detailed knowledge of the discipline concerned and to create an awareness of the variety of institutional contexts in which it is applied.
- To allow learners to become acquainted with the practical application of the principles, theories and models of the discipline in the work environment.
- To promote a group of learners into a rigorous and comprehensive theoretical and methodological programme in the discipline when the qualification is done by dissertation.
- To contribute to the development of learners to become research orientated and to produce academics who have the knowledge, skills and who can transmit such knowledge to future learners.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

- Master of Commerce, NQF Level 9.

- Produce formal examination of the thesis by assessors.
- Present oral presentation of the findings of the dissertation to assessors.

- Produce a summary of achievements of the application of theories in the practical work situation in the form of reports.
- Present portfolios of related career opportunities in specified areas of the discipline.
- Write a report or research project submitted by the learner to indicate the ability to solve problems in the practical environment.
