Postgraduate Diploma in Legal Principles Compliance

Purpose

The intended purpose of this qualification is to provide qualifying learners with the ability to proactively engage with the compliance framework which improves productivity and competitiveness and fosters sound relations with regulators and allows for a fully coordinated compliance function in-line with global best practices. This qualification is to equip senior compliance officers with the required specialised knowledge of the relevant legal, regulatory and compliance principles.

Rationale

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

Recognition of Prior Learning(RPL) in the case of students not complying with the formal entry requirements will be conducted in accordance with the policy and guidelines of the University.

Entry Requirements

The minimum entry requirement

• Bachelor's Degree/equivalent qualification at Level 7.

This qualification comprises of compulsory and elective modules at National Qualifications Framework(NQF) Level 8 totalling at 160 Credits.

Compulsory Modules, Level 8, 120 Credits

• Basic Interpretation Theory, 40 Credits.
• Compliance Management, 40 Credits.
• Money Laundering, 40 Credits.

Elective Modules, Level 8, 40 Credits (Choose ONE)

• Corporate Governance, 40 Credits.
• Board Governance, 40 Credits.

• Define and analyse the concept of a regulatory framework on corporate governance, compliance imposed via audits and integrated reporting.
• Demonstrate the compliance function in a financial institution as same pertains to the Generally Accepted Compliance Practice(GACP).

Integrated Assessment

The qualification is coherently aligned in that all teaching, learning and assessment activities are linked to module and qualification outcomes. Assessment methods are varied and includes summative and formative assessment to enhance applied competence from learners and facilitate authentic assessment and learning. Assessment will not only be used to determine whether outcomes were achieved, but also to generate data for grading and provide feedback in order to improve the curriculum. For all the assessment purposes to be achieved, assignments, tests and examinations which reveal evidence of learning based on the criteria of adequacy. will be used.
