The purpose of the qualification is to equip professionals to effectively undertake forensic investigations with an appreciation of the legal, ethical and industrial relations implications.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is
- Bachelor of Technology in Forensic Science, NQF Level 7.

- Bachelor of Criminal Justice, NQF Level 7.

A minimum of 128 Credits are to be completed for this one year qualification.
Exit level outcomes
- Demonstrate an understanding of basic criminal law principles and the elements of the crimes involved in white-collar crime.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the requirements of the law of criminal procedure in the light of the Constitution and law of evidence as it pertains to investigation and gathering of evidence.
- Show an appreciation of the industrial relations issues involved, the civil recovery of assets and the development of an institutional ethical ethos.
- Investigate a crime with an appreciation of the need to establish all the elements of the crime and to support this with credible evidence.
- Show an appreciation of the ethical aspects of workplace crime.

Integrated assessment
Assessment criteria are demonstrated fulfilment of the desired outcomes (above) met through successful completion of all the components of the qualification and assessed through a range of methods including tests, assignments, seminars and formal examinations, in written and oral form. Assessment may include a short supervised project or case study.
The written tests, examinations and reports will serve to integrate and draw together all the material covered in all the components of the qualification.
