To expand their mastery of skills to be able to

  1. Confidently identify and define complex problems and apply appropriate knowledge, values and skills to their

solution.

  1. Deepen their understanding of research methods.
  2. Critically review and evaluate literature pertaining to the field of study.
  3. Gained improved skill in independent analysis of new situations using a wide range of techniques appropriate to

the field.

At the completion of the programme the learner should be able to

  1. undertake independent research, skillfully selecting from and deploying a wide range of techniques apropriate to the

field of study.

  1. Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of the selected field of study.
  2. Critically review evidence supporting conclusions to check its validity, reliability and significance.
  3. Assume the leadership role and work efficiently and responsibly as a member of a team.
  4. Write clear, crisp and coherent reports.
  5. Demonstrate improved confidence and mastery of the subject matter in debates pertaining to the field of

specialisation.

Assignments, oral presentations, planning and carrying out the various steps of the research process and writing the research report (the dissertation).

Work opportunities may be secured in government and non-governmental organisations nationally, regionally and locally, training institutions, research bodies or industry. The qualifier may also enter private practice.

The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning. The qualification aims to enhance research capacity and increase access by providing an opportunity to articulate to master's degree. The qualification will accommodate learners with a postgraduate diploma and relevant honours/qualifications on NQF level 8, a minimum of 120 credits achieved at other institutions as well as vertical articulation from relevant master's degrees.
