Purpose and rationale

The learner will qualify to be a registered, independent professional who

  • Applies evidence-based physical and holistic approaches that will include core skills as Therapeutic Exercise, Manual Therapy, Electrotherapy to prevent and rehabilitate physical disablement and promote and maintain physical and psychosocial well-being in multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Is flexible and adaptable in implementing evidence-based practice to serve the multicultural health care needs of the country and the region.

Entry requirements and RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is

  • Bachelor of Science Honours in Physiotherapy, NQF Level 8.

Or

  • Postgraduate Diploma in Physiotherapy, NQF Level 8.

  • Research proposals are submitted through appropriate faculty structure to Senate Higher Degrees Committee for approval.
