The final mark allocated for the degree is based on the evaluation and assessment of a dissertation based on independent research, a research article based on the dissertation and an oral examination conducted by an examination committee constituted by all academic staff and the external moderator(s) which will allocate the final mark after the oral examination in the presence of the examination committee.

The qualification will provide entrance to enrol for the Ph D degree at the University of Zululand as well as other institutions of tertiary education.

The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning.
