Purpose and rationale

  1. To allow the graduate/professional/scholar to independently and critically analyse and transform research data and situation to improve patient care, management of clinical care, teaching/learning and research continuously.
  2. To enable the graduate to apply research skills in solving problems and communicate findings orally and in publications

Formal: B. Physiotherapy/B.Sc and at least one year of postgraduate clinical work.

Demonstrate the ability to

  • Identify a problem/s, perform feasibility studies and independently or in collaboration implement a research study/ies, while understanding its impact on health and the environment
  • Improve patent care using evidence from the scientific literature or conduct the research to provide the evidence;
  • Communicate findings orally and in writing
  • Lead research students
  • Apply and secure funding for research from national, international and industrial agencies and
  • Show motivation to proceed to doctoral studies

  1. Continuous assessment of literature, laboratory and clinical projects
  2. Preparation of manuscripts for publication, podium and poster presentations

  1. Written examination paper, 2 hours long

  3. Dissertation/project report

  1. All core and ancillary modules with the exception of the dissertation allow entry by students form other professions e.g. Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Optometry, Sports Science and Physiology.

The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning. The qualification aims to enhance research capacity and increase access by providing an opportunity to articulate to master's degree. The qualification will accommodate learners with a postgraduate diploma and relevant honours/qualifications on NQF level 8, a minimum of 120 credits achieved at other institutions as well as vertical articulation from relevant master's degrees.
