Purpose and rationale
Purpose
To provide training in the theory and practice of the subspecialty of Reproductive Medicine to specialist obstetrician/gynaecologists. An additional purpose is to provide the healthcare sector with an appropriate number of professionals with training in Reproductive Medicine.
Rationale
The training programme aims to allow certification (according to the requirements of the Health Professions Council of South Africa) as a registered subspecialist in Reproductive Medicine.

Entry Requirements
A candidate shall not be admitted to the programme, unless he/she (a) submits proof that he/she, prior to commencing with education and training in the relevant subspecialty, has complied with all the requirements for registration as a specialist in the primary or one of the primary specialities listed against the relevant subspecialty; (b) has been registered as a specialist in that field; and (c) has been appointed against an Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) approved training number.

This qualification consists of compulsory modules at level 9.
Modules
- Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Reproductive Medicine Part 1 (OBS7008W), 120 Credits.
- MPhil in Reproductive Medicine Part 2 (OBS7009W), 60 Credits.

- Demonstrate clinical competence in reproductive endocrinology which included basic and applied investigations.
- Demonstrate clinical competence in the surgery related to fertility and reproductive medicine. Demonstrate competency in modern methods of assisted conception including Intra-Venous Fluids.
- Demonstrate competency in the management of endocrine disorders in pregnancy.
- Demonstrate ability to interpret, perform and formulate/supervise diagnostic procedures.
- Demonstrate expertise in ultrasound as related to reproductive medicine.
- Understand epidemiology and statistics.
- Demonstrate experience of administration, management and running a unit and in particular an understanding of legal and ethical aspects of this discipline.
- Analyse data which is collected.
- Complete research project successfully.

Entry Requirements
The examination consists of two parts. The examination in Part I consists of one or more written paper(s) and/or such practical and/or oral examinations as the examiners may require. The examination in Part 2 (for those candidates who wish to obtain the Degree) consists of a dissertation.

The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy.
