Purpose and rationale
The purpose of the programme is to study and research in the various areas of law at post-graduate level.
Entry requirements and RPL
Matric Endorsement/Exemption or equivalent. Learners must have graduated with LLM or B Proc degree or have acquired a level of experience, which, in the opinion of the University State, equips them to study and research at post-graduate level.

Exit level outcomes
- Undertake a course of study in selected modules at Masters level, gaining exposure to a more critical and evaluative approach to legal issues.
- Undertake independent research and write a dissertation, which demonstrates independent thinking, critical analysis and articulation of ideas and law.
Associated assessment criteria
- Demonstrate adequate knowledge and understanding of substantive law modules - Advanced Constitutional Law, Constitutional & Human rights litigation, Discrimination and the Law.
- Produce a dissertation or publishable articles, which make a contribution to knowledge by exploring an aspect of law and is satisfactory in form and content.
Integrated Assessment
The University of Natal is currently reforming its assessment strategies to include the assessment of applied competence for each qualification. In the meantime, a combination of continuous assessment and traditional written examinations serve to assess the integration of all / most of the learning outcomes for each module in a qualification.

Purpose:
The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning.
