Integrated Assessment
Formative assessment practices that will be implemented
Assessing successful presentation or research progress is required at regular intervals. Master's learners are expected to engage in regular formal discussions with the supervisors, demonstrating their progress as well as highlighting the research problems encountered.
Two papers and a mini-dissertation are presented, as determined by the lecturer acting as supervisor. At least one test is written per paper. Further successful presentation of research progress is required at regular intervals. It is also expected from master's learners to engage in regular formal discussions with the supervisor(s), not just to demonstrate their progress, but to highlight research problems that have been encountered.
Summative assessment practices that will be implemented
Integrated assessment, focusing on the achievement of the exit-level outcomes, is done using a research dissertation on the selected topic, within the field of Sport Management. The dissertation should demonstrate evidence of original work and should constitute a decided contribution to the knowledge of, and insight into, the field of study.
Every master's learner must also submit an article that is ready for publication. This does not place a publication obligation on either the learner or the promoter. The article may be a summary of the study or part thereof.
Or
A mini-dissertation (with the same requirements as for the dissertation) plus a formal examination in each of the two papers that were taken in conjunction with the acting supervisor towards the end of each semester. The two papers, as well as the mini-dissertation, must be passed with an average mark of 50%.
