This qualification includes the various specialisations in Commerce. Please refer to "Notes" for details on the specialisations.
The purpose of the MCom degree is to provide a professional qualification to learners, to equip them with focused post graduate level knowledge in the field of the endorsement and to produce competent administrators with research skills in these fields for employment in the public and private sectors including non-governmental organisations. It also provides opportunities for continued personal and intellectual growth.

Exit level outcomes
The MCOM graduate is able to
- Undertake independent research;
- Demonstrate a competent knowledge of research methodology;
- Produce a research dissertation according to stipulated institutional requirements;
- Apply advanced knowledge for problem-solving purposes, displaying responsibility towards the environment and the health of others;
- Exhibit thorough comprehension of the systems approach in problem-solving;
- Demonstrate cultural and aesthetic sensitivity in respect of the communities they work with.
Associated assessment criteria
A comprehensive range of assessment criteria will be used to determine learner achievement. The overall criteria will include, but will not be confined to:
- Mastery of advanced knowledge in the chosen field of the endorsement as well as research methodology.
- Competence in the skills of managing the dynamics of interdisciplinarity in respect of problem-solving aimed at reconstruction and development.
- Sensitivity in respect of cultural diversity and gender issues pertaining to research and knowledge application.
- Applying research methodology in a morally responsible way appropriate to the field of the endorsement.
- Production of a dissertation of sufficient quality to pass examination
INTEGRATED ASSESSMENT
Continuous assessment through supervision of the research. Summative assessment through examination of the dissertation produced and an oral examination.

Articulation options
Vertically -Internally PhD and externally a PhD, DAdmin, DCom or other Doctoral degrees with the corresponding endorsement at other institutions of higher learning.

Purpose:
The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning.
