Purpose and rationale
Purpose
This qualification includes specialisations, refer to the "Notes".
The purpose of the qualification is to provide learners with in-depth knowledge of a specialised field of study so as to equip them for further intellectual development, gainful economic activity and contributing to a more humane society.
Entry requirements and RPL
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience.
In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
Recognition of Prior Learning focussing on the ability to read and interpret scholarly texts.

Integrated Assessment
Assessment across the qualification forms an integral part of the teaching and learning process. In achieving the learning outcomes, learners are required to comply with the minimum assessments set for the level of the qualification, as per the Institution's Assessment Policy. Assessments vary depending on the module and the outcomes of the module; however, all modules are formatively and summatively assessed. The assessment of theoretical modules is usually in the form of assignments, practical's and written tests or examinations.
Assessment occurs in the form of a dissertation on a topic relevant to the special field of study. Where applicable, an oral examination.

The intended purpose of this Master of Accountancy is to provide the learners with a professional, vocational, and sound understanding of the general theoretical principles and their applications in the field of research accountancy. The qualification will be treated according to the policies and procedures of the institution regarding master's dissertations, monitoring, and assessment of learners' progress in the qualification, provision for learners disputes regarding assessment results and Recognition of Prior Learning.
