Purpose and rationale

Purpose

The Master of Administration enables learners to conduct an in-depth study of an area of his/her interest within the field of Industrial Psychology. Also, learners need to complete a dissertation based on research.

Rationale

The qualification provides for the needs and requirements of Human Resources Managers. The managers will be able to function effectively in dynamic, demanding and culturally diverse South African workplace.

Entry requirements and RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

This qualification allows for Recognition of Prior Learning for a leaner to attain entry/access to this qualification and to gain exemptions from some qualification requirements. Where an entry criterion applies, a prospective leaner may use prior learning experience in the field of public health to gain entry to the qualification. Submission of a portfolio of evidence as proof of practical experience from an appropriate setting will enable the learner admission to the qualification. Access to the qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning is possible if the learner produces evidence of having achieved the appropriate outcomes level of knowledge, skill, and competence. Access to the qualification is achievable if the learner can provide formal proof of credits earned towards the outcomes from an accredited service provider.

The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is

  • Cognate Bachelor Honours in Industrial Psychology, NQF Level 8.

Qualification rules

This qualification consists of the following compulsory module at National Qualifications Framework Level 9 totalling 180 Credits.

  • Full Dissertation, 180 Credits.

Associated assessment criteria

The Associated Assessment Criteria will assess the Exit Level Outcomes in an integrated manner.

  • Generate, evaluate and synthesise information and concepts at abstract levels.
  • Conduct independent critical research.
  • Create responses to conceptual problems that expand or redefine existing knowledge.
  • Write a research report, scientifically.
  • Publicise original research in scientific and professional journals.
  • Supervise research at an appropriate level.

Integrated Assessment

Course Work entails formative assessment methods e.g. assignments, case studies, group discussions, seminar presentations.

Summative assessment

  • Examinations and mini dissertation.
  • Dissertation.

Formative Assessment methods

  • The learner will be expected to defend their research proposals to a panel of Examiners.
  • Produce a full Dissertation.
