Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
Access may be granted, through the Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL), to learners who do not meet the minimum entry requirements.
Entry Requirements
- National Senior Certificate, Level 4 granting access to Diploma studies.
- Senior Certificate, Level 4 with Matriculation exemption.
- National Certificate Vocation, Level 4 with a relevant specialisation, granting access to Diploma studies.
- Higher Certificate in Textile Design, Level 5.

Exit level outcomes
- Initiate creative design concepts and produce in two and three dimensions within the textile and surface design disciplines.
- Effectively promote the self and design ideas and produce.

- Apply research methodology, investigate, collate, retrieve and interpret data at an intermediate level.
- Demonstrate an advanced knowledge of fibbers, fabrics and materials in order to predict end performance and appropriateness in design application.
- Demonstrate methodology and documentation of relevant technical information relating to processes and materials relevant to the realisation of design concepts.
- Apply the principles of two and three-dimensional design at an advanced level in a variety of produce.
- Illustrate design concepts in an advanced manner employing a variety of media and marketing tools.
- display advanced technical and problem solving skills required by textile technologies.
- Utilise materials (such as fibbers, fabrics and products) as well as the technological processes pertaining to design concepts and technologies in a creative and novel way.
- Be well versed in oral and written communication for self-promotion, accurate data processing and the implementation and passing of instructions.
