Purpose
This qualification is for a somatologist working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the field of somatology. The qualified learner has the competence to apply remedial and holistic somatherapies, technologies and strategies appropriate to a health and skincare orientated environment.

Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. The Recognition of Prior Learning occurs according to outcomes as well as knowledge gained in the relevant industry.
Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is
- National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, or equivalent.
Or
- A Higher Certificate in a related field, NQF Level 5.

- Apply a range of remedial therapies and techniques appropriate to the condition or context.
- Select and accordingly perform treatment taking into account the total condition and lifestyle of the client.
- Evaluation and forecast of business trends happen through obtained information.
- Operational assistance and methodologies are developed and maintained.
- Establish resource control systems and procedures.
- Review the effectiveness of the control systems.
- Make and justify budget proposals for expenditure.
- Budgets are negotiated and agreed upon.
Integrated assessment
Formative assessment
Assessment of laboratory practice, assignments, projects, tutorials or oral presentations. Practical and written or oral tests.
Summative assessment
Written or oral examinations as assessment of critical academic components of learning. Practical examinations where applicable. Assessment of the success of the experiential training component.
