Purpose and rationale

  1. To introduce learners to the field of human resource management and to train them in how to become good at balancing human needs with corporate needs.
  2. To sensitise the learners to the fact that a manager achieves the goals of an organisation through people.
  3. To teach the learners that to work with Human Resources, is to understand the difficult and ever-changing situation of organisations.
  4. To teach the learners how to apply research methodology in their search for answers and in their problem-solving approach.

The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is

  • National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, granting access to Bachelor studies.

B.Admin (Personnel)

  1. Ability to understand, analyse and critically assess related Human Resources issues.
  2. Could manage Human Resources in Private and Public Sector but would most likely find employment within the Public Sector.
  3. Could become a Consultant or a training specialist.

B.Comm (IPS)

  1. Ability to understand, analyse and critically assess related Human Resources issues.
  2. Ability to manage Human Resources in both the private and Public Sectors.
  3. Ability to become more Self-reliant, in that the Learner might start a business and do consultancy work.

Dip HRM

  1. Ability to understand published data on Human Resource issues and be analytical and critical in their thinking.
  2. Ability to know how Human Resources should be managed to attain corporate goals.
  3. Ability to have an understanding of the complex and ever-changing environment of Human Resources Management.

Cert. HRM

  1. Ability to have a sensitivity towards the uniqueness of the individual employee and his human needs, in order to explain the importance of appropriate leadership style.
  2. Ability to understand the necessity for matching the job with the individual worker.
