Purpose and rationale
The qualification aims
- To undertake community-based, action research into chronic poverty and community development of mainly rural areas.
- To debate policy and undertake health systems research for a more socially accountable health care system.
- To intellectually apply social theory to reflect on the type of socio-economic transformation needed in South Africa and contribute to social knowledge.
- To analyse and direct solution to problems in the fields of development, labour relations, organisational and technological environments.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
