Purpose and rationale

Purpose

The purpose of the Higher Certificate in Business Management to introduce learners in the workplace with general business management theories and introductory management competencies to enable them in assisting management in analysing business processes. Provide an industry-accepted qualification to those learners who want to specialise in the knowledge area of Risk Management; Provide a Career option to those learners who do not have a formal qualification in management; Provide application skills to those learners that have mastered the theoretical knowledge of Management.

Rationale

The customisation of short learning programmes to the industry is one of the most dynamic features of the institution as a comprehensive institution. Career orientated learning programmes are particularly associated with enough learning to meet the specified needs of the industry. Short Career orientated learning programmes facilitate access to learning in a manageable manner in terms of cost, time, energy and resources, both for the employer and employee. These short learning programmes target specific adult learners to upgrade skills and knowledge in the workplace context and are subject to the institution quality assurance processes.
