Purpose and rationale

The learner will qualify to be a registered, independent professional who

Entry requirements and RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

  2. Formulate a holistic problem-solving approach in client management in multidisciplinary settings.
  3. Apply basic concepts of research in keeping with current trends and the changing needs of diverse communities based on the structure of the health system.
  4. Contribute to planning and implementation of appropriate preventative and promotive rehabilitation programs to empower individuals and communities.
  5. Create, maintain and enhance effective working relationship with individuals, within organisations and structures to achieve common goals.
  6. Practice self and peer review.
  7. Conduct oneself in a professional and ethical manner.
  8. Work autonomously and co-operate with others in group multi-disciplinary tasks or projects.

Integrated assessment

  • Formative assessment is provided through module tasks and group assignments.
  • Summative assessment is provided through assignments and an examination at the end of each module, and a research project in the final year.
