Purpose and rationale
The purpose of the qualification is to train learners in the fields of economics and business applied to the agricultural and natural resources sector.
This Degree prepares learners for management careers in agricultural sales and marketing, brokerage, market research, international market development, finance, public relations, food manufacturing and distribution, and farm machinery and supply.
A further purpose of this qualification is to prepare learners to be farm operators, either as entrepreneurs or as professional managers in an organisation. Graduates will also find many opportunities in farm credit and finance, appraisal, and insurance.
A final purpose of the qualification is to prepare learners in focus areas such as environmental and natural resource management, international economic development, international trade and agricultural policy.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
