Purpose and rationale
The purpose of the Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Geography and Environmental Science is to provide learners with post-graduate knowledge, skills and applied competence in a different fields of Geography and Environmental Science.
The second purpose is to provide the country with Honours graduates in Geography and Environmental science. Environmental scientists will play an important role in shaping the future of South Africa.
Entry requirements and RPL

- B. A Degree with majors in Geography, Development Studies, Sociology, Social Work, History and Anthropology
- B. Sc Degree: Botany, Zoology, Computer Science and Chemistry
- Where such can be demonstrated and assessed additional and relevant prior learning may be also recognized.

- Will demonstrate an in depth knowledge and understanding of major principles of Geography and Environmental Sciences.
- Will demonstrate a synthesising and holistic approach to problem solving through exposure to a number of disciplines, knowledge of environmental systems and enhanced environmental awareness.
- Will demonstrate competence in discussion and communicating information accurately.
