The purpose of this qualification is to train statisticians. It is to equip learners to be able to do research in Applied Statistics as well as to be able to work as statisticians or data analysts in the market place. Purpose and rationale
The purpose of this qualification is to train statisticians. It is to equip learners to be able to do research in Applied Statistics as well as to be able to work as statisticians or data analysts in the market place. They would also be able to work in Industry, Health Related posts and in Government Departments.
These qualifiers, with a lower post graduate-level knowledge and specific skills will also provide South Africa with tertiary teachers who will have gained an insight into their subject and hence a far greater understanding of Statistics.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of prior learning
A Bachelors degree in Mathematical Statistics with a pass mark of 60% or other indication of sufficient prior learning. Where such prior learning can be demonstrated and assessed it may also be recognised.
