- To enable students to acquire the necessary hydrological and hydro geological skills required to solve problems pertaining to government, commerce, and management of natural resources.
- To enrich students with the fundamental hydrological concepts and skills/language for applications.
- To introduce learners to the uses of hydrology in the water, environmental and land sectors.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.

- Identify, assess, develop and solve problems of Hydrological or Geohydrological nature.
- Relate, evaluate, interpret and apply Hydrological and Geohydrological concepts to actual life problems that may need hydrology-problem-solving techniques.

This will comprise of a wide range of formative assessment, which will include Field-Practicals of Hydrological/Geohydrological nature.
Written timed tests, tutorials, presentations and written examinations in all the prescribed modules.
