To successfully complete the qualification the learner will have to demonstrate his/her learning via module specific learning outcomes as well as critical cross-field learning outcomes.

Module specific outcomes will include capabilities relating to module knowledge and the understanding thereof within a management leadership context and capabilities relating to integrated knowledge and skills from a variety of disciplines within the management leadership field.

Critical cross-field outcomes will include those specified in the learning outcomes for approved modules in the certificate and as appropriate to the learner's field of practice.

  1. Demonstrating and applying practical and theoretical knowledge of the total field of Industrial Psychology.
  2. Analysing current organizational and human resource practices, systems, processes and procedures from a holistic perspective.
  3. Planning and implementing a broad range of interventions which lead to more effective general functioning.
  4. Demonstrating theoretical, practical and analytical skills regarding needs assessment and the satisfaction of organizational and individual needs.

The learner will be able to analyse and apply the basic principles relevant to the following

  1. Bring about a fit between individual and organizational needs in the workplace.
  2. Diagnose organizational effectiveness and apply appropriate interventions towards more effectiveness.
  3. Assess job requirements and candidates capabilities.
  4. Conduct independent and interdependent research projects which focus on job related issues.
  5. Determine the nature and determinants of pre-shopping behaviour and post-shopping behaviour.
  6. Evaluate the appropriateness of a broad range of psychological tests in varying job related situations.
  7. Assess, diagnose and identify developmental issues at areas in work and organizational context.
  8. Understand, explain, predict and change human behaviour in the workplace.

Associated assessment criteria

A learner should provide evidence of learning competency (knowledge, skills and attitude) by means of the following

  1. Appropriate interventions conducted to rectify deficiencies in simulated context.
  2. Independent and interdependent research conducted which focus on job related issues.
  3. A written report on job related issues in the work place.
  4. Compile human resource management policies in work and organizational context.
  5. Report on psychometric results to reflect the information obtained with psychometric tests.
  6. A script written according to set standards.

Integrated assessment

Competence is achieved, through continuous assessment by demonstrating the ability to achieve the outcomes of the Qualification.

  • Written tests and examinations.
  • Written assignments.
  • Discussion groups.
  • Case studies.

This will be supported by a module credit system, followed by a final exam on the modules for which credit was not obtained

Assessment documents are moderated to ensure that

  • They conform to the scope and context of the competency as stipulated in the qualification
  • They are constructed in such a way that the Assessor assesses the critical outcomes applied, during the Learners activity performances, towards achieving an outcome.

Assessments are

  • To include confirmation of the Embedded Knowledge component to ensure that the Foundational Competency is achieved
  • To be verified by Internal Verifiers to ensure valid, credible, true and fair results

Vertical: It gives access to post-graduate studies at Masters level.

Horizontal: It can contribute to related post-graduate studies at other SA universities.

To provide students with advanced knowledge and skills about advanced aspects of accounting sciences (including financial accountancy, taxation, management and auditing), thus equipping them for a career as chartered accountant in accounting and management areas of the private and public sectors where their participation will promote sustainable growth and development, and maximise prosperity in all sectors of the economy and society.

The purpose of this qualification is to strengthen and deepen student's knowledge of management accounting and to develop their research capacity in the said field of study. It will also prepare students for a career in management accounting, either as academics or in practice.
