Purpose and rationale
This qualification aims to
- Prepare English language educators who can facilitate the development of learners, to become effective communicators in English, and become critical readers and thinkers.
- Explore a wide range of research into English Language Teaching (ELT) with the intention of seeking the most effective way in which the English language can be presented to non-native speakers.
- Introduce English language educators to current and emerging perspectives in the area of applied language studies in general, and ELT in particular.
Specifically, educators are introduced to the latest language teaching approaches, which are more task-based and problem-oriented, as opposed to the traditional teaching approaches.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
