Purpose and rationale
The purpose of this qualification is to
- Expand and intensify the learner's understanding of obstacles to development in the social world, and to equip him/her with the theoretical and practical skills to counter those obstacles.
- Prepare the learner for employment in the development industry.
- Afford learner with an opportunity to further his/her studies at the postgraduate level and increase his/her chances of employment.
- Provide the learner with theoretical knowledge, at developing application skills and at orienting the learner towards the reality of social challenges in a society in transformation.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
