Purpose and rationale
The qualification aims
- To introduce Learners to the activities which constitute administration.
- To equip Learners with skills which will enable them to perform their duties effectively.
- To enable public officials to interpret governmental policies with a view of effective implementation of the same.
- To instil in Learners ethical skills for effective service rendering.
- To be able to build future public managers.
Entry requirements and RPL
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)
The institution conducts RPL in terms of the policy and guidelines of the institution to recognise other forms of formal, informal and non-formal learning and experience. In cases where learners do not comply with the formal admission requirements, the institution applies its RPL policy.
Entry Requirements
The minimum entry requirement for this qualification is
- National Senior Certificate, NQF Level 4, granting access to Bachelor studies.

- Perform administrative functions effectively;
- Manage resources (esp. Human) effectively;
- Analyse and evaluate critically the concepts and theories associated with the public sector and select and apply those appropriate to the needs of the situation;
- Reflect and evaluate regularly personal effectiveness and their ability to develop them in others;
- Analyse and apply appropriate strategies for the effective utilization of resources;
- Evaluate and apply appropriate research and identify research needs;
- Demonstrate deeper understanding of the complexities involved in the public sector;
- Engage in critical evaluation, systems thinking and holistic reflection of the relationship between theory and work related experiences.

- Demonstrate the depth and broader knowledge and understanding of how to render Administration services within the South African context;
- Identify and analyse the legal processes involved in Administration services;
- Keep the complete and accurate records of processes undertaken;
- Solve the administration problems in accordance with best practices;
Integrated Assessment
A variety of continuous and cumulative assessment methods, take-home assignments, projects, group and individual work, written and oral examinations which will be utilised to evaluate whether learning outcomes have been attained.
